CARBON REMOVALTECHNOLOGY WEALTH / GLOBAL TRACKER
Research standards

Read the evidence,
not just the headline.

This tracker is a public-source research snapshot dated 08 October 2026. It covers carbon removal developers, technology providers and selected adjacent or enabling companies across regions. It is a growing directory, not a claim to an exhaustive global census.

Two levels of coverage

Detailed review: company-specific deployment, funding or delivery evidence has been reviewed and a more specific commercial assessment is provided.

Directory profile: company identity and its pathway are supported by the cited public source. Unverified fields stay unverified. Pathway-level process notes and diligence questions provide context, not additional company facts.

Six directory categories

Direct Air CaptureCapture of atmospheric CO₂. Fuel-use comparators remain explicitly labelled.
Biomass Carbon Removal and StorageBiochar, biomass burial, bio-oil injection and biogenic carbon capture and storage (BECCS).
Direct Ocean CaptureWater-based CO₂ extraction or electrochemical seawater carbon-removal processes.
Enhanced WeatheringLand and aquatic mineral weathering, ocean and river alkalinity enhancement, and mineralization. In-situ storage-only providers are identified in their profiles.
Carbon FarmingAfforestation, reforestation and soil or agricultural carbon-stock projects.
Point-Source CaptureIndustrial-source CO₂ capture, processing and related storage or enabling technologies. Fossil-source capture alone is emissions mitigation, not carbon removal.

Each company has one primary directory category. Its profile retains the specific technical process and identifies cross-pathway or enabling roles. Multi-pathway companies are classified by the activity described in the current evidence.

What qualifies as removal?

Carbon removal requires carbon drawn from the atmosphere, directly or through biomass or water, followed by durable storage and net lifecycle accounting. Capturing fossil flue-gas emissions is emissions avoidance, not atmospheric removal. DAC used for fuels normally releases the carbon again and is labelled adjacent. Storage and enabling technology providers are separately identified. Forest and soil pathways have different durability and reversal risks from geologic or mineral storage.

Data definitions

CountryHeadquarters or publicly listed company location, not necessarily project location. Cross-border cases are identified.
TRLAnalyst estimate only where evidence supports it. Not assessed means no numeric company TRL is assigned.
FundingDated announcement, with round or instrument where known. Equity, project finance, debt, grants and offtakes are not added into one undifferentiated total.
CO₂ capacityStated annual design or operating metric with project and basis. Capture capacity is not automatically verified net atmospheric removal.
DeliveryCumulative procurement delivery where reported by the source; not total corporate output or annual capacity.
StatusThe strongest status supported in the cited source. Directory listing alone does not establish that a company is operating.
Cost targetA target, if verified, is distinct from measured production cost and carbon credit sale price.
PatentsSelected identified publications. An application is not a granted patent. Coverage does not establish current national legal status or freedom to operate.
Not verifiedA data gap in this snapshot, not proof that no funding, project, patent or capacity exists.

TRL interpretation

TRL 1–3: research and proof of concept. TRL 4–5: validation in laboratory or relevant environments. TRL 6–7: pilot or demonstration systems. TRL 8–9: qualified systems or operational demonstration. Readiness can differ between capture, storage and verification; a single range cannot capture every component.

Evidence hierarchy

Company project disclosures support stated design and announcement data. Registries and procurement records support issuance or delivery evidence within their own scope. Trade association listings support identity and pathway. Commercialization assessments are explicitly marked as analyst interpretation.

For a purchasing or investment decision, reconcile current registry records, project commissioning evidence, lifecycle boundaries and contracts. The tracker does not substitute for project due diligence.

Relationship to Technology Wealth

This new directory connects to the existing Technology Wealth carbon removal research. Its member-only analysis has not been copied into this site; public sources are used to build the structured profiles.

The review date is the date of this research snapshot, not the publication date of every underlying source. Older funding and project announcements remain dated where known. Automatic data updates are not configured.
